Since World War I (1914-1918), Australia’s economic relationships between Britain and the United States have been significant to the growth and development of Australia as a nation, which has resulted in both Britain and the United States providing a substantial percentage of Australia’s revenue over the years.

It is believed that Australia’s economic ties with the United States intensified significantly during the Cold War when the influential power within the liberal economic system was the United States. This in turn increased trade between America and Australia and strengthened the relationship between these two nations.

As a student in the subject “Analytical Reading and Writing”, I believe that the Pearson Assessment task was not a “complete waste of time” as some students have stated in the tutorials over the past few weeks. I have come to realise that, even though it is a teadious exercise which took up almost 3 hours, it was an eye opener and a form of revision, as I am not a 2009 High School leaver. Yes, I did know the concepts and vocabulary used in the assessment and thankfully passed it, but it is often that I tend to forget to use such concepts in my everyday academic writing.

Castle is an American TV series encorporating both comedy and drama. Richard Castle, played by Nathan Fillion, who is mainly known as “Castle” in the series is a famous murder mystery novelist. Castle is called to help Detective Kate Beckett or “Beckett”, played by Stana Katic, to solve a copy-cat murder based on one of his novels. Castle, who becomes interested in Beckett as a potential character for a new book series, uses his contacts and receives permission to continue accompanying Beckett while investigating cases.

It is quite intriguing how the lyrics of songs play an important part in the lives of people.

Many people find that they can relate to certain issues or situations written in song, but there are some that get so attached to songs that they feel the song was written for them. Others feel that they are lost in the effect the lyrics create.

The question remains whether the listener is in fact affected by the lyrics or to the actual situation they experienced.

First and Third Person.

When writing anything, you can write in either first person or third person. However, it is important to remember that once you start writing, you must continue using that style of writing. For example, if you start a story by making yourself the subject and refer to youself as “I” and “Me”, you must continue this style throughout the entire story. This rule remains when you are writing in third person.

Failure to do so will result in your reader being completely confused by the story in its entirety.

The readers of your work play a major role in the piece itself. Depending on the audience, you will have to tailor your work accordingly. For example, if you are writing for adults working in a financial services industry about the current economic crisis, you would use the appropriate language and jargon that is used in that industry. However, if you are writing for 5-8 year old children about the same topic, you will then have to tailor your text to eliminate the technological jargon used and include words that are simple and easily understood by children.

To Disagree or not to Disagree?

It is obvious that not every topic or opinion that comes up, everyone will agree on. In fact, more people agree simply to avoid arguments, not because they actually agree with the statements being made.

On page 58 of the book titled “The say. I say,” the author(s) state that you should disagree and “explain why”. It is not always easy to disagree with an opinion without having anything to support your argument. The best way to go about it is if you are well prepared and have knore than just knowledge about the argument you are trying to create.
